About DIIC Quran Contest
The DIIC has been organizing inter-school Quran recitation and cultural competitions every year since 1998.
The centre has been conducting various competitions, literary programs, awareness classes and cultural activities over the years. However, the Quran competition has been designed to be a part of the Centre’s ongoing efforts to provide a common platform for students of various nationalities, where each of them are given an opportunity to prove their mettle in a real international arena.

DIIC Interschool Quran and Educational Contest 2012
The 10th edition of the contest received an overwhelming response, with almost 30% of the participants being non-muslim students. More than 14 schools participated with almost 450 students taking part.
Apart from Quran recitation competition, there were various opportunities for students to display their skills in competitions such as impromptu, debate, adhan and arabic writing. The contest was divided based on age group and gender. Each gender had three categories namely junior, sub junior and senior.

Hidayah Foundation Involvement
Hidayah Foundation being a part of DIIC was asked to help in conducting the event by having Hidayah members participate as volunteers. HF team was asked to attend a pre-event meeting which was held a day before, where HF was briefed on the event details such as contests, time, categories and other event related matters.
HF core team coordinated well, ensuring maximum participation with dedication and sincerity.

The Event
Hidayah Foundation core members assembled at the venue by 8:00 am and had a quick huddle session making sure everyone had the same understanding and knew individual role thoroughly. It was HF team that welcomed all participants and school representatives, and directed them towards the teacher registration desk and the main hall.
The event was well organized, While DIIC members took charge of the control room, HF took care of the event procedure, right from hosting the show, to announcements of various programs, directing participants to various program halls and coordinating with the female section in keeping them updated with the proceedings.
However due to the shortage of female volunteers, it was getting extremely tedious handling ladies section. HF women wing was called for rescue, which they responded to within an hour assembling at the venue and taking charge thereafter.
While the final results were being compiled, Mr. Khasim Ahmed from Hidayah Foundation kept everyone busy with various activities such as QnA session, inviting kids to speak on certain topic, etc. Moreover the prize distribution announcement was also handled by Mr. Khasim Ahmed.
