Among the underprivileged, we have seen thousands of families who have turned into orphans and women abandoned by husbands. A large number of children are raised in an unhealthy atmosphere without proper food, medicine, clothing, shelter and toilets. It is impossible to educate them properly without providing them with the bare minimum facilities.

A mother who has faced abandonment is more likely to have long-term mental health issues. These are often based on the fear that abandonment will recur. Abandonment can cause shock, confusion, shame, guilt, fear, grief and enormous stress leaving psychological wounds. Stress may significantly lower the family's nurturance levels. This raises the odds of the next generation inheriting and spreading the toxic effects of the wounds.

A child who was abandoned by a parent or caregiver may have mood swings or anger later in life. Children are four times more likely to be poor if the parent is not around. Poverty is heavily associated with academic success. Fatherless kids are also twice as likely to drop out. Dropping out of school, growing up fatherless and incarceration appear to be connected. One study shows that 7 out of 10 high school dropouts are fatherless.
