Networking dynamics of health - Doctors, hospitals & medical supplies

Poverty and lack of awareness have had a serious impact on health. Hidayah Foundation has conducted many health check-up and awareness camps in different rural areas in association with KMC and YMC hospitals and has treated thousands of patients. Also, follow-up treatments in hospitals were provided for thousands of patients. Working in line with the motto, prevention is better than cure, Hidaya Foundation has joined hands with YMC, to provide free treatment to patients under the Yen card scheme where the cost of medicines is borne by the Foundation, along with assisting the patients in availing government schemes such as Ayushman Card to BPL/APL families, providing them with life-saving drugs that are not affordable or available in government hospitals, emergency aid in accident cases, reducing hospital bills, discharge of dead bodies and performing last rites, and many other cases are dealt with compassion.

From its inception, Hidayah Foundation has been looking at developing systems and coordination between different dynamics of the project for a fast and smooth solution. Hidayah Foundation helpdesk was set up at Wenlock hospital in the early years of the project to mediate between patients and the hospital, doctors, pharmacy and labs. This enabled a faster recovery rate.

DURING THE PANDEMIC

To beat the pandemic blues and help people deal with Covid-19, Wellness Helpline was successfully established with the support of other NGOs. This functions in coordination with NGOs, doctors and counsellors of Mangaluru. The purpose of this helpline was to put in place a system to guide Covid-19 patients of our district with a free consultation by experts, doctors, provide oxygen cylinders, PPE kits, masks, 24 x 7 ambulance services, and volunteers to help patients in various stages. Almost 200 plasmas were donated to desperate covid positive patients. Almost 15,000 Ayushman cards were freely distributed in different localities, organizing smart locality camps.

NGOs have played a significant humanitarian role during this COVID-19 pandemic by serving over 50,000 families with food kits during the lockdown, burial & cremation of COVID-19 victims and now in this “Life Saving Mission”

This initiative is a synergistic health initiative by a consortium of NGOs teaming up with COVID-19 frontline warriors (Doctors, Nurses, Counsellors, Administration and other associated service providers) to serve affected patients.
